Blocked drain quote template for Australian plumbers
Blocked drains are hard to price before you know what's down there. A good quote prices the clearing work you can see, then spells out how camera findings, root damage or broken pipe will be priced, so a bigger job never turns into an argument.
Line items to include
- Callout fee, if you charge one
- Labour to clear the blockage (hours × your rate), or a fixed price for the first hour
- High-pressure jetting, listed as its own line when you use the jetter
- CCTV drain camera inspection, with or without a recorded copy for the customer
- Locating the problem spot, if you're using a locator
- Sundries such as inspection opening caps or seals
Quote the unknowns as variations
Say plainly that the price covers clearing the blockage and inspecting the line. If the camera shows broken, collapsed or root-damaged pipe, write that repairs, relining, excavation and reinstatement of concrete, paving or garden will be quoted separately after the inspection. This one sentence can save a dispute later.
Exclusions and assumptions
Common exclusions are excavation, hard digging or rock, work on council or water authority mains past the property boundary, locating unmarked or buried inspection points, and asbestos-cement pipe handling. It's worth noting the assumption that there's reasonable access to an inspection opening.

Should a blocked drain quote include a camera inspection?
Many plumbers include or offer one, because it shows the customer why the drain blocked and supports any repair quote that follows. List it as its own line so the customer can see it's optional or included.

Who fixes a blockage in the main sewer?
