Paving quote per m²: template for Australian landscapers
Customers usually ask for paving as a price per square metre, but the base preparation is where the cost and the quality are. A quote that shows the pavers, base, sand and equipment separately explains why your price is what it is.
Line items to include
- Pavers by the m², with size and type (for example 400×400 concrete pavers)
- Excavation and compacted road base, with depth (for example 100mm)
- Bedding sand and joint sand
- Cutting edges and finishing
- Excavator or plate compactor hire
- Labour (hours × your rate)
Falls, drainage and Before You Dig
Say that the paving will fall away from the house for drainage. Check underground services through Before You Dig Australia before you excavate, and note it on the quote.
Exclusions and assumptions
Rock excavation, sealing the pavers and removing old concrete are common exclusions. Write down the assumed site and access conditions, for example a level site with good access for machinery.
Showing materials markup and GST
Enter pavers, road base and sand at cost and let your markup apply, so the customer sees one price per line. If you're registered for GST, show the ex-GST subtotal, GST at 10% and the total.

Should I quote paving per square metre?
