EV charger installation quote template (Australia)
EV charger customers often have a charger picked out and want to know what the install costs on top. An itemised quote that separates the charger, the circuit and any switchboard or supply work answers that cleanly.
Line items to include
- The charger unit (or note that the customer supplies it)
- Labour to mount the charger and run the circuit (hours × your rate)
- Cable by the metre for the run from the switchboard, sized for the charger
- A dedicated circuit breaker and RCD protection suited to the charger
- Isolator, conduit, fixings and sundries
- Setup and testing, including connecting the charger to the customer's Wi-Fi or app if you do that
Check the switchboard and supply first
Before quoting, check whether the existing switchboard has room and the main supply can take the extra load. If the board needs upgrading, or the customer wants three-phase, quote that as a separate option. Load management settings and any network operator approval should be mentioned where they apply in your area.
Exclusions and assumptions
Common exclusions are switchboard upgrades unless listed, supply or meter changes by the distributor, trenching or concrete cutting for long cable runs, and patching walls. Note the assumed cable length and mounting location so a longer run can be priced as a variation.
Compliance, markup and GST
State that the work will be done to AS/NZS 3000 and that the certificate of electrical safety or compliance required in your state or territory will be issued on completion. Enter the charger and cable at cost, let your markup apply, and show GST at 10% if you're registered.

Common questions
Should the EV charger itself be on the quote?
If you supply it, list it as its own line with the brand and model. If the customer buys it, say so, and note whether you warrant the installation only.
Does an EV charger need its own circuit?
A fixed home EV charger is normally installed on a dedicated circuit with suitable protection. Check the manufacturer's instructions and the wiring rules for the specific charger.
What if the switchboard is full or old?
Quote the switchboard work as a separate option so the customer can see the charger install price on its own and decide on the upgrade.
